Creative powerhouses Calva Louise have announced their latest studio album, Edge of the Abyss, set for release on July 11th via Mascot Records. The album, co-produced by Gareth McGrillen of Pendulum, continues the band’s genre-blending journey, fusing metal, punk, electronica, and art rock with cinematic storytelling.

To mark the announcement, the band has unveiled the music video for their latest single, Aimless. Speaking on the themes of the song vocalist and guitarist Jess Allanic explains, “The song deals with the fragility of our beliefs but at the same time with the importance of knowing our true essence and standing up for it.”

Musically the song delivers their unique mashup of latin inspired guitars and melodies with crushing riffs and heavy hitting screams. It’s a combination that represents the multicultural trio’s vast influences and another exciting taste of what’s to come on the record. Accompanying the release is a visually stunning (and very fiery) music video, directed, edited and VFX by Allanic herself.

Aimless’ is part of a larger narrative within Edge of the Abyss, which sees characters navigating between dimensions and encountering mysterious doppelgängers. This ambitious storytelling extends through previous singles W.T.F, La Corriente, and Under The Skin, with all music videos featuring impressive VFX work directed by Allanic.

“Our album is called Edge of the Abyss because that’s how we live. One misstep and everything could fall apart,” Allanic reflects. “I emigrated twice, so I’ve already had a culture shock twice. This hurts a little less because this is where I want to be. I have nowhere to go back to.”

The roots of Calva Louise trace back to Allanic’s childhood in Guarenas, Venezuela, where she first began crafting the sci-fi universe that now defines the band’s aesthetic. The trio’s journey—from Venezuela, France, and New Zealand—ultimately converged in the UK, where their creative chemistry solidified into the powerful force that is Calva Louise today.
