Cage Fight Announce New Album Exuvia & Drop Single ‘Un Bon Souvenir’
UK metal wrecking crew Cage Fight have announced their second studio album, Exuvia, set for release on May 1st via Spinefarm Records.
To mark the announcement, the band have unleashed a brand-new single and video, ‘Un Bon Souvenir’ – a venom-laced statement that cuts deep both musically and lyrically.
Vocalist Rachel Aspe pulls no punches when discussing the track: “Don’t bite the hand that feeds. This song is a reference to a previous experience in a band controlled by a toxic manipulative person. It’s a reminder that bringing people down won’t elevate you. A challenging experience, but as he once said, it’s still a good memory, ça reste un bon souvenir.”
The accompanying video mirrors the song’s intensity. Aspe explains: “The video depicts the unraveling of the protagonist’s false world, built on manipulation and control. Though he initially appears strong, his convictions are fragile, revealed by his reliance on dark spiritual guidance for reassurance. Once seeming to be the rock of this world, he is exposed as a snake. This is the collapse of a false king.”
Recorded by Sam Bloor at Lower Lane Studios and mixed by Jim Pinder (known for his work with Sleep Token and Malevolence), Exuvia retains Cage Fight’s raw, old-school hardcore heart packed with meaty grooves, pummelling rhythms and a visceral wave of fury that hits like a gut punch.
Across 11 tracks, the band expand their sonic palette, exploring layered atmospheres and sharper melodies. The result? A record that feels bigger, tighter and more cinematic without sacrificing the band’s savage edge. For the first time, all lyrics on Exuvia are written by Aspe — and the result is Cage Fight’s most personal record to date. The album confronts anxiety, assault and grief with unflinching honesty. Expansive closer ‘Élégie’ reflects on the loss of her grandfather and the pain of words left unsaid.
