Ottawa pop-punks Bearings have dropped a brand-new single, “Float Away” featuring Derek Discanio of State Champs, lifted from their upcoming album Comfort Company, set for release on 7th November 2025 via Pure Noise Records.

“Float Away” blends infectious hooks with reflective lyricism. Speaking about the track, vocalist Doug Cousins shared: “This is one of the first ones we really built out with the drums first. Mike had this great part and we built it out from there. Lyrically, it came together a little later, and there’s some obvious metaphor in there about being lost on things going on in your own life at times. We all need someone to bring us back down to earth sometimes.”

The single offers another taste of Comfort Company, which Cousins describes as the band’s most grounded and honest work to date: “Comfort Company is for us the record that feels like coming back home. Some songs we wrote at a cottage together, others came from a basement. They all started somewhere honest and ended up back at the studio where we did our first album in the East End of Toronto. This album was working on music all day, walking to the beer store, then heading back to the windowless studio to relax before reading Kurt Vonnegut and eventually falling asleep on an air mattress. As we worked out what we wanted it to sound like we found ourselves wanting to make music that felt natural to us, something that we knew we’d connect with and be able to spill out on stage when the time came to perform it.”
