As It Is Announce ‘Never Happy, Ever After X’ – A Feature Filled Re-Recording of Their Debut Album
Transatlantic pop-punk and emo favorites As It Is have announced the upcoming release of Never Happy, Ever After X, a complete re-recording of their iconic debut album, set to drop on April 18th. The reworked album will feature an array of guest appearances, spanning a range of artists who helped shape the band’s journey and those who have been influenced by them over the years.
Reflecting on the ambitious project, the band shared their excitement: “We knew Never Happy, Ever After deserved a big ten-year celebration, and what started as an idea to re-record a few singles quickly snowballed into an unbelievably ambitious project. We’re so proud to have so many incredible guests join us in celebrating this album—some who directly influenced the record, others who we’ve had the pleasure of touring with, and even newer acts we’ve seen grow up in the scene we helped shape.”
Notable guest appearances on the album include Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens on “Speak Soft X,” Mikey Chapman of Mallory Knox and Alex Adam & Alex Costello of ROAM on “Cheap Shots & Setbacks X,” and Mikaila Delgado of Yours Truly on “Sorry X.” Fans will also hear Dave ‘Brownsound’ Baksh of Sum 41 shredding a guitar solo on “My Oceans Were Lakes X.”
The album’s tracklisting also includes collaborations with Tobi Duncan of Trash Boat on “Concrete X,” Lucas Woodland of Holding Absence on “Dial Tones X,” and NOAHFINNCE on “Can’t Save Myself X.” Additionally, the track “You, The Room & The Devil On Your Shoulder X” sees Ella Meadows of Transit (and narrowcast) contributing to the record, offering yet another nod to the band’s early influences.
As It Is also highlights the long-awaited collaboration with Kellin Quinn, reflecting on the band’s early days when frontman Patty Walters covered songs by Sleeping With Sirens on YouTube, and the subsequent tours they shared during the Never Happy cycle. “To celebrate this record with so many of our friends and heroes is truly a full-circle moment,” the band adds. “It’s amazing to think that the kids who wrote this record ten years ago would never have imagined something like this. This may be one of the most special records we’ve ever made.”
