Arm’s Length Release New Single “The Weight”

Arm’s Length Release New Single “The Weight”

Ontario emo outfit Arm’s Length have unveiled “The Weight,” the final single from their upcoming album There’s A Whole New World Out There, due out 16th May 2025 via Pure Noise Records. The song arrives alongside an official music video and follows the previously released tracks “You Ominously End” and “Funny Face.”

Lyrically and sonically, “The Weight” dives deep into frontman Allen Steinberg’s struggles with mental and physical health: “The Weight is a song written primarily about eating disorders,” Steinberg explains. “Specifically relating the feeling of wanting to be physically small with longing to be insignificant in the grand scheme of the world. Sometimes I want to be so small I disappear, and I think people can relate to that.”

The song leans into the band’s emotionally raw signature style while adding layers of atmosphere and subtle orchestration that hint at the broader sonic scope of the new record. Fans got a taste of this vulnerability during a Reddit AMA with Steinberg where he opened up about the record’s themes and the turbulent headspace he was in during its creation. “I was the most mentally ill I’ve ever been while writing this record,” he admits. “The songs aren’t written for anyone else at all.”

That unfiltered introspection lies at the heart of There’s A Whole New World Out There. It’s a clear evolution from the band’s 2022 debut Never Before Seen, Never Again Found. This new album builds on that momentum by digging even deeper into personal trauma, love, loss, and the strange resilience that forms in their wake.

Reuniting with producer Anton DeLost, the band—rounded out by guitarist Jeremy White, bassist Ben Greenblatt, and drummer Jeff White—recorded much of the album collaboratively, with lush additional contributions from Bonnie Brooksbank (strings) and Alex Scalzo-Brown (piano). The result is a record that promises emotional catharsis without artifice.
