Deep, dark, subtle, yet commanding; alt. return with “Conversations That Hurt”

There’s a lot of genre-blending sounds coming from the alternative scene right now. But with alt. we are truly in a world where we’re hearing the perfect pop ballard juxtaposed with seriously heavy riffs. Where we’re getting a euphoric punk spirit alongisde a rock anthem. There’s no clear sticker to attach to alt. and it’s connecting worldwide.

Releasing their first EP ‘dysfunctional‘ in the tarnished year that was 2020, they rose above the challenges and gained a huge online following. Their debut album ‘ABEYANCE’ followed in 2023, including domestic touring and supporting slots with Enter Shikari. And now they’re returning for the next wave. “Conversations That Hurt” combines the soft and graceful vocal style of someone like Sam Margin (The Rubens) with the belt your heart out chorus performances of Lucas Woodland (Holding Absence) and that’s where alt. really come into their own versus other contemporaries.

Conversations That Hurt is about the freshness of a breakup,” shares vocalist Daniel Cullen-Richards. “It’s hard to move on and all you can think about is wanting them back when you know it’s not meant to be.”
