Alt-rock sisters ALT BLK ERA have released an exciting new version of their hit single “My Drummer’s Girlfriend,” now featuring legendary band Wheatus. The collaboration came about after the two bands crossed paths at this year’s Download Festival, where Wheatus, who were instantly taken with ALT BLK ERA’s unique sound, suggested the idea of working together.

The new take on “My Drummer’s Girlfriend” blends Wheatus’ iconic style with ALT BLK ERA’s raw energy, creating a fresh twist on a track already gaining traction in the alt-rock scene. ALT BLK ERA vocalist Nyrobi shared her excitement about the collaboration: “Before ‘My Drummer’s Girlfriend’ came out, we would describe it as having Teenage Dirtbag energy. Then, Wheatus followed us after we both performed at Download Festival. It felt like we were being pushed into a position where we had to find the courage to ask one of the most iconic indie rock bands to collaborate with us. I mean, the audacity right? Fortunately, they loved it, and being fortunate enough to collaborate with them feels OUT OF THIS WORLD!”

Wheatus frontman Brendan B. Brown shares: “I was a fan of ALT BLK ERA first. There’s always two sides to a story; we wanted to make the lyrics from the drummer’s girlfriend’s perspective. Not wanting to do the original a disservice, I focused really hard on trying different guitar lines. ‘My Drummer’s Girlfriend’ is a heavy banger, and I didn’t want to mess it up!”

For ALT BLK ERA, working with Wheatus was a dream come true. “We haven’t had much experience working with other artists, especially not ones as legendary as Wheatus,” Nyrobi continued. “We were really nervous about sharing the track with them, and we just wanted to hide somewhere after we sent it through.”

Chaya, the other half of the vocal duo, reflected on the band’s journey as rising artists: “Over the past two years, as young artists making music that doesn’t fit into people’s boxes, we’ve faced so many naysayers. So to have Wheatus supporting our music in such a public way is just absolutely amazing, and we’ve learned so much from them.”

ALT BLK ERA will embark on a UK in-store tour in support of their debut album Rave Immortal, set for release on January 24, 2025 via Earache Records. The band will hit the following cities:
