Afterlife Drop New Single ‘Bad Habits’

Alt-metal risers Afterlife have returned with a bang, unveiling their frenetic new single “Bad Habits” alongside a glitch-heavy performance video. The band – Tyler Levenson (vocals), Andrew McGuire (guitar), Luke Walkinshaw (drums), and Tristan Edwards (bass) lean into chaos and catharsis on the track, which explores the internal conflict between self-awareness and denial when personal coping mechanisms start to harm those around you.

“‘Bad Habits’ is about realizing that your behavior or vices are negatively impacting the people around you,” explains Levenson. “It captures the struggle between denial and self-awareness, ultimately becoming a cry for help.”

He continues by pointing to one of the track’s most emotionally direct moments in Verse Two, where he confronts avoidance head-on: “Then I put a fake face on, ‘cause I’m headed to a place that I gotta get away from / Can you help me get away from all the pain, the doubt, the fear that traps me here?” Levenson describes the lyrics as reflective of a difficult period of his life, shaped by day-to-day emotional strain and escapism.

The release arrives as Afterlife continue to build serious momentum across the rock and alternative scene. The band have also just been added to the lineup for Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida, where they’ll perform on Thursday, May 7.

Known for their explosive live shows and rapidly growing fanbase, Afterlife’s trajectory has only accelerated since signing with Mascot Records in 2025. With “Bad Habits” now out in the world and more new material on the horizon following sessions with producers Zach Jones and Austin Coupe, the band look set to push even further into the alternative metal spotlight.
